On Being Considerate Of Others

Ven. Master Hsuan Hua

Today is the eleventh day of the fast undertaken by two cultivators at Gold Mountain Monastery. For the duration of the fast, everyone should help them out with their work since they don’t have that much energy. Everyone should be compassionate. Don’t think this way:

Even Mahasattvas pay no attention to others.
AmitÁbha Buddha looks after himself.

Since they have made such a resolution to follow the path to bodhi, we should help them to achieve their goal. Starting tomorrow I will come downstairs before the lecture, so they won’t have to expend the effort to walk upstairs to request the Dharma. All of you should also take up more responsibilities on their behalf.
