69.1 On Youth Being the Hope of the Future

Ven. Master Hsuan Hua

Some young children whom I am very fond of have been coming often. The very young Guo Fang and Guo Zhi have been coming regularly, and some teenagers are also showing interest. These young people will have a bright future. Some of you dislike young people, but that is a great mistake. Young people will shoulder the responsibility of Buddhism. Old people are useless. Therefore, you should put effort into training the young, the next generation. Buddhism needs new blood. All of you wily old folks are useless. I hope that the young people will quickly acquire spiritual powers. Then the older people will be in no position to look down on you young people.
