The Buddhist Council of Northern California presented its annual Vesak Celebration at the Berkeley Buddhist Monastery on Saturday, May 30, 2009.
The theme of the celebration, "Steps Along the Way - Dharma Comes To The West" featured an address by Professor Martin Verhoeven of the Graduate Theological Union and included the participation of Buddhists from many traditions.
The co-chairpersons for this sacred Buddhist holiday celebration are: Rev. Dr. David Matsumoto of the Institute of Buddhist Studies, Venerable Madawala Seelawimnala, IBS Adjunct Professor; and Venerable Heng Sure, Head Master of the Berkeley Buddhist Monastery.
