The Venerable Master first visited Southeast Asia to examine the Southern tradition of Buddhism in Thailand back in 1949. In 1974, he returned to this region and initiated a revival of the Proper Dharma. Since that time, he has made several more trips here to propagate the Dharma.
During the 1990's, two monasteries and a hermitage in Malaysia came under DRBA’s auspices and are now staffed by monks and nuns who trained under the Venerable Master and who faithfully carry on his traditions.
