Students' Corner

Being a part of Great Strength Academy is like being in a great big family.  GSA offers a lot of friendship and a whole lot of support.  Everyone knows you and your family, and GSA has some of the most creative classes.  Classes are held by various teachers with a variety of classes like, calligraphy, art, and speech class.  There are many teachers and they are great listeners.  If you have a problem, they will try to help you by offering ideas and solutions.

Great Strength Academy means a lot to me.  Being there is like getting a break from the world when you feel that the world is against you.  They are like my family, each and every one of them.  Being at Berkeley on Saturdays, is a fun and helpful experience.

Peace has many meanings.  Peace is making friends.  Peace is also like sharing pencils and no fighting, yelling, or hitting.

Michelle (9 years old)

mvc-012f.jpg (9833 bytes)

Peace has many meanings.  Peace is virtue, sharing, friendship, love, joy and respect.  Virtue is no fighting.   Sharing is when you share things that is yours and let other people borrow them.  Friendship is when you make friends with  other people.  Love is when you really care for someone.   Joy is when you are happy and get along with other people.  Respect is when you don't call people names no matter what color your skin is. Another way of explaining peace is not having wars against each other.  We all have to learn to work with other people.  That is how I would explain what peace means.

Amanda (9 years old)

I think that peace means love in communities.  Where each person cares for the other person he or she is with.  When there is peace, people give.   When they give, it makes them feel good.  When there is peace, people understand one another.

Peace to me is many things.  It is love, kindness, truthfulness, wisdom, and most importantly, togetherness.  if there wasn't any peace, we would be mean and cruel instead of nice and kind.  I went on a peace walk on January 2, 2000.   While we were walking, teenagers in our group were shouting saying,"HONK IF YOU WANT PEACE!!!"  A lot of people honked at us and took pictures or shouted back.  That proves that we need more peace in this world.  We can start by not littering and saying mean things to one another.  So if you want peace, you should begin now!!!

Friendship Poem transgirls_bouncing_ball.gif (32049 bytes)

Don't forget to write or call.

Or soon our hopeful spirits will fall.

You have always been one of my Best Friends,

Also with a unique trend.

Don't forget to visit time and time.

Or you will have to pay an unhappy fine.

Don't blame us if you get tons of mail,

Please reply quickly without fail.

We will give you good luck for a hundred bucks.

Forget us not, forget us not,

If you do, we will have to give you a shot.

We know that we won't hear from you for awhile.

But we will always remember your smile.

Everything you do is thoughtful

Nothing about you is dull.

Remember if you don't pay a hundred dollars,

You will get a million callers.

Any more biddings?

Just kidding!

             Amanda Phi

1. Sincere, caring, trustworthy and kind,

These are the qualities which make our mothers so divine.

2. They make our spirits high when weíre feeling down,

Causing us to smile instead of frown.

3. Encouraging our hopes and all our dreams,

    Working together as a team.

4. Supplying love and courage in a time of need,

Always reminding us to do a good deed.

5. Astonishingly fantastic in everything you do,

Life wouldnít be so wonderful without you.

6. Completely truthful from the start,

We owe it to you and your gigantic pure heart.

7. Beautiful, witty, smart and wise,

Characteristics that make us feel like weíre on cloud nine.

8. A devoted mother to all of us,

An affectionate one no matter how much we fuss.

9. Life is useless without you,

For you are the one who is so cool.

10. Happy Motherís Day!

Pokemon: Brother My Brother

Brother my brother

Tell me what are we fighting for

Weíve got to end this war

We should love one another

Oh canít we just pretend

This war never began?

We can try, brother my brother

We face each other from different sides

The anger burns canít remember why

Itís kind of crazy to cause such pain

Our foolish pride makes us hate this way

We watch our world fall apart

Tell me what good is winning

When we loose our heart?

Brother my brother

Tell me what are we fighting for

Isnít life worth so much more?

We should love one another

Oh canít we just pretend

This war never began?

Tell me why, brother my brother

We can try, brother my brother

Letís take a moment and look deep inside

And say weíre willing to give love a try!

Weíre not as different as we seem to be

Itís so much more to me than what you see

Donít have to be this way!

Think about the consequences

Turn around and walk away!

Brother my brother

Tell me what are we fighting for

Isnít life worth so much more?

We should love one another

Oh canít we just pretend

This war never began?

Tell me why, brother my brother

Tell me why!

Brother my brother

Tell me what are we fighting for

Isnít life worth so much more?

We should love one another

Oh canít we just pretend

This war never began?

Tell me why, brother my brother
